This mini shoot was about everything PINK. From soft powder pinks to rich flamingo pinks, every shade you can imagine was used. This colour palette was combined with the on trend use of chalkboards, which resulted in a super romantic and pretty wedding theme.
Steph’s vision was to photograph an outdoor set up that could be used for any event; to show how diverse these styled set ups can be. Capturing all the small details of a wedding, that help to bring the whole theme together.
These areas were set up to show how different areas could be styled for your big day, giving you a great alternative to the traditional photobooths. The photobooth area looked great with a beautiful pink floral upholstered chair, hanging frames & mirrors, pearl strings, old wooden apple crates, vintage suitcases and radio, lace, granddad’s projector, singer sewing machine, vintage typewriter, wicker hearts and a very appropriate ‘love’ sign! Each area was finished with different fabrics and flowers, including gorgeous blush pink silk curtains and pink ombre tassels, creating a lovely backdrop, which looked beautiful against the wood of the barn and the stables. This styling would not have been complete without a carpet of flowers in a frame, glass candlesticks, mercury candlesticks, floral table runner and of course the gorgeous ‘MR & MRS’ chalkboard signs.
The shoot was filled with lots of gorgeous shades of pink flowers, from roses to ranunculas. They spilled out of the vintage dressing table drawer and were used to fill dainty glass vases, mercury votives, bark covered vases, jam jars, milk bottles and milk crates, soft grey jugs, glass domes and even grey chalkboard buckets.
Different areas were styled to give brides plenty of ideas on how they might want their wedding to be dressed. The Sweet Table Packed with full of vintage props and floral arrangements, this was set up on a dressing table. Using different style glass vases to give height to the table, sweets from the colour palette were added along with the beautiful ombre pink paperie, which complimented these sweet delights perfectly.
Picking up the pink ombre theme, the wedding stationary included an invitation, rsvp and information insert all tied together in a blush pink silk ribbon. Everything was pulled together with the ‘chalkboard’ inspired black envelope and white writing.
The Cake & Sweet Dessert Table
Drawing the same tones, colours and designs from the invitations and the flower palette, the 4 tier wedding cake was based around the new trend of chalk board designs. The cake also incorporated the new trend of sharp edges, as well as the height of each tier being different and together measuring 18” high. This worked perfectly with all of the arrangements and was a modern, iconic take on a traditional wedding cake.
In addition to the wedding cake, we also had intricate details on the cookies and cupcakes. Using the same stark blackness of the chalk board design against the soft pinks, these delicious additions pulled the dessert table together.
It was a very cold January day when we shot this shoot, but were fortunate enough to have glorious blue skies and sunshine which beamed onto the stunning Barkham Barn. This Barn in Berkshire is a fantastic wedding venue for brides looking for something unique. Set on a working farm this barn seats 120 comfortable, overlooking rolling countryside and backing onto an enclosed courtyard.
